Gotham Glassworks

Gotham Glassworks

I own and operate Gotham Glassworks, a custom fine art glass proprietorship located in the historic village of Schomberg.

My wife Tracy and I moved to “Dr. Kay’s House” (as it’s locally called), a lovely 3/4 acre century home in May, 2006.

We preserved and renovated the 80-plus year horse barn on the property into my glass studio. Its rustic exterior conceals a modern operational workspace inside. Gotham Glassworks relaunched in Schomberg in June, 2008.

I’ve been producing my own unique style of glass artwork since 1996. My Dad picked up the hobby after he retired –  after watching him make lamps and window catchers for our friends and family, I tried making a simple lamp and liked it. Enjoying the result and challenge, and to compliment my interest in furniture design and construction, I starting making more.  What started as a “hobby profession” has become my occupation.

Gotham Glassworks Studio - restored horse barn in Schomberg, OntarioI added fused glass (also called “warm glass”) to my offering with the purchase of my large glass kiln in 2008. Fused glass art is my predominant focus going forward.

“Fusing offers much more opportunity to be creative and expand my offering of works to include objects and shapes I could never accomplish with foil or lead came. I am very excited by this transition to kiln-fired art!”

You are welcome to see my studio anytime by appointment.  I welcome you to see me and my work on Arts Society King’s Studio Tour May 1-2; and the 2nd Annual Schomberg Village Street Gallery September 18-19 (which I Chair).
